Climescape Insulating Technology

Warmth without unnecessary weight –  Rain. Snow. Sleet repelling yet breathable – Skin friendly Cotton Fleece…. Our Climescape team like to think of “R-Factor” as the ultimate garment of choice when the temperatures begin to drop and the need for multi-functional performance is on the rise. 

Climescape R-Factor garments utilize US based 3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation in conjunction with our award winning water repelling cotton fleece.  The combination of these technologies has allowed us to produce cotton fleece garments which keep the wear warm dry comfortable.

Prior to choosing 3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation  we compared all of the different insulating products which are available on the market today and choose 3M, because we believe it to be one of the best microfibers in the world.  3M began experimenting with microfibers I the 60’s successfully launched 3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation  into the ski-wear business in the 70’s and added the Olympics to their resume in the 80’s.  When combined with our innovative water repelling fleece, you have one durable comfortable garment with a tremendous history of performance innovation.

The unique microfibers or fine fibers that make up Thinsulate insulation work by trapping air molecules between the wearer and the outside.  The more air a material traps in a given space, the better it insulates the wearer from the cold outside air.  Because the fibers in Thinsulate insulation are finer than the fibres used in most other synthetic or natural insulation, they trap more air in less space, which makes Thinsulate insulation a better insulator.

All Climescape garments must have multi-functional performance; utilization of 3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation allows us to deliver on this objective in lightweight warmth category.

Thinsulate insulation meets the harmful substances requirements of Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and has been awarded the Oeko-Tex certificate for Product Class 1 (appropriate for contact with babies’ skin) by Hohenstein institutes.
